logo AmeriCorps joins a long tradition of national programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corps, the GI Bill, the Peace Corps, and VISTA that have encouraged and rewarded service. AmeriCorps is locally driven, offering resources to communities to design and implement their own solutions. We are now in our 14th year of the program. Over the course of the last decade, LISC AmeriCorps members in the Bay Area have contributed to neighborhood organizing, tenant association formation, housing development, merchant outreach, tenant services, youth programs, and many other activities. The Bay Area LISC AmeriCorps program expands the capacity of Bay Area nonprofits and brings new talent to the community development field. Many of our AmeriCorps get hired by their host organizations or by other community development organizations upon completion of their year of service.
